SPECIAL QUALITIES:  

While Sophia is a great defenseman in her own end, she also is an offensive threat. Her quick feet and skating ability allows her to engage in the offensive play and her sharp edges allow her to get back and play defense. Her strong “hockey IQ” stands out. Sophia reads the play before it actually happens, which allows her to be in the correct position defensively as well as contribute offensively with strong outlet passes and creating a four man rush. She has players trailing behind her while she performs decisive cutbacks and turns freeing up the ice for herself and teammates.

Sophia loves the training and preparation aspect of hockey. While she plays for Shawnigan, she trains with her team, in workout classes, and on her own time. Her hockey team is on the ice 3-4 times a week, plus games, andshe trains 3-4 times a week. During the off season she likes to attend hockey camps and she workouts 6 times a week. Some of her other favourite offseason activities include “AA” softball and soccer.
